Approach to Care
Jamie Jewett (he/him) is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides trauma-informed, gender-affirming care in a warm and compassionate environment. His approach is grounded in the belief that healing is a deeply personal and often nonlinear journey and that each individual brings inherent strength and resilience to that process.
Drawing on over 30 years of experience in mindfulness traditions, yoga, and his background as an artist and academic, Jamie integrates a holistic and recovery-oriented perspective into his work. He emphasizes collaboration, curiosity, and authenticity, creating a space where vulnerability and genuine connection can support meaningful change.
Areas of Focus
Jamie works with individuals navigating life transitions, understanding that these moments—while often difficult—can open pathways toward growth, healing and a more fulfilling life. He is a strong advocate for his patients and works to ensure they feel heard, respected and supported throughout their care.
He supports individuals across the lifespan with a wide range of mental health concerns. He offers affirming care that recognizes the unique challenges and strengths within LGBTQ+ and gender minority communities.
Background & Experience
Jamie has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including acute-care inpatient units, emergency departments, residential settings and outpatient practices, serving children, adolescents, adults and geriatric populations.
He completed his nursing studies at the University of Rhode Island and the University of Connecticut. He also holds a PhD and a second Master’s degree from Brown University, as well as a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy and Dance from Naropa University.
Philosophy
“If we are willing to take an unbiased look, we will find that, in spite of all our problems and confusion, all our emotional and psychological ups and downs, there is something basically good about our existence as human beings.” — Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
